7 Easy DIY Farmhouse Christmas Mantel Decor Ideas – The house I grew up in was a farmhouse.

It had cozy wood-burning fireplaces that my family would gather around, and it smelled like Christmas every single day of the year. That’s because it was always decorated for the holidays!

If you’re looking to do some farmhouse decorating this year, or if you just want to add a little bit of charm to your home, here are some easy DIY mantel ideas inspired by my childhood home:

7 Easy DIY Farmhouse Christmas Mantel Decor Ideas

DIY Ornament

If you want to make a personalized ornament, try taking a photo of your family in front of the Christmas tree.

Or, if you have pets that love to join in on holiday festivities, consider taking some pictures of them with the tree as well!

Ornaments can be made from paper, fabric, wood or other materials.

They can have decorations inserted into them (such as buttons or beads) and they can be painted or covered with glitter.

Some people prefer to hang their Christmas ornaments on a tree rather than the mantel.

However, if you do not want to decide where your Christmas decorations should go then creating an ornament that doubles as a fireplace decor item is ideal!

Hanging branch

If you have a branch from your yard, then use it! You can hang it from the ceiling or over a mantel. If you don’t have any branches, use this tutorial for making one.

Once you’ve got your branch picked out, add some greenery and decorate with Christmas ornaments. You can also add lights to make it glow!

We decorated our mantel with our hanging branch and some other decorations that we made ourselves.

Sisal tree

The sisal tree is a plant that grows in tropical climates. Sisal (also known as henequen) is used to make rope, baskets and sisal carpet.

You can also get it at your local craft store if you’re looking for something different to decorate your mantel with this holiday season!

Cedar garland

To make this cedar garland, you’ll need:

  • A bunch of cedar branches from your local craft store or florist – These should be about 18 inches long.
  • Some clear string – It doesn’t matter what type, but if you have twine, that would be ideal.

To make the garland, take your first branch and tie it onto your string with a double knot (so it won’t come undone).

Then tie another branch to the bottom of that one with another double knot. Repeat until all branches are attached.

To hang them up on your mantelpiece, use thumbtacks or pushpins to secure the end of each branch into a piece of wood like a nail or screw in each stud space between two studs in your wall (this will allow for movement if they get bumped while moving around).

Reindeer antlers

Reindeer antlers are a great addition to any Christmas mantel. They add rustic charm and can make the perfect place to hang stockings or other items.

To create reindeer antlers, you’ll need:

  • A drill
  • Antlers (or you can make them yourself)
  • Paint of your choice (optional)

Window pane mirror

A window pane mirror is an inexpensive find at thrift stores. They’re usually found in the lighting section and can be used as a mirror or as a picture frame.

The best part about this decor item is that it’s versatile, so you can hang it on your wall or use it on top of your fireplace. It also works well with farmhouse style décor because of its rustic look and feel.

If you want to make it even more interesting, consider using one as the centerpiece for your mantel display!

If you’re looking for a farmhouse Christmas mantel decor, there are a lot of different ways to do it! You can use different materials and colors, textures, shapes and more.

We hope that this post has given you some inspiration for your own home and helped get you started on creating your own crafty decorations!
